Sony Confirms The Holiday 2020 Release Window For The PlayStation 5

admin

PlayStation 5 has become a hot topic nowadays. Anything remotely related to the upcoming console from Sony creates a fuss in the tech industry. A few days back we reported that Sony had filed a patent which showed there would be an AI assistant in the PlayStation 5. The use of AI assistants may mitigate or create problems, but that is a story of some other day. The big news today is that Sony has finally confirmed the release window of the PS5. It will land during the holiday season of 2020, which means we only have to wait another year to witness the start of the 9th generation of consoles.

Wired broke down the news of the PS5 after the famous Mark Cerny interview, and now the further tidbits related to the release window are also shared by wired. According to Mark Cerny, who is currently acting as the lead system architect of PS5, they are working on the final UI of the system. They are trying to integrate the system UI with the game UI so that players get the most out of their games even before getting into the game.

He added, “Even though it will be fairly fast to boot games, we don’t want the player to have to boot the game, see what’s up, boot the game, see what’s up. Multiplayer game servers will provide the console with the set of joinable activities in real-time. Single-player games will provide information like what missions you could do and what rewards you might receive for completing them—and all of those choices will be visible in the UI. As a player, you just jump right into whatever you like.

They are also working on the new controller for the system. According to the report, we can expect a better speaker, enhanced haptic feedback and, adaptive triggers. Additionally, it will feature a USB type-c connector and a bigger battery. Interestingly, Sony’s product manager revealed that they were thinking of improving the Dualshock 4 controller during the PS4 Pro release. They decided to hold the idea of releasing another controller to avoid the split between PS4 users.

Apart from superior specifications, we expect many things to change between the current and the future console. The game development will also take a new turn for better as the gap between console gaming, and PC gaming will be the least in many years.
